Flexible returns

A dark mass of cloud spreads across the top of the frame. Beneath it, a band of open white, and lower still, a range of snow-capped peaks sitting small on the horizon. The space between is the subject: this piece gives more room to air than to ground.

AETHER began as a single image, in the same way as ASCENT. It was separated into layers, reduced to a narrow band of greys, then rebuilt as a print. What is left out does as much as what remains, and on paper that emptiness reads as the actual subject rather than blank space around it. It is the same process behind the AETHER t-shirt and hoodie, carried here onto paper rather than fabric.

Printed on matte stock at 16 × 24 inches. Unframed, shipped rolled.
